Welcome to Biodiversity photos

This site has been created to organize our vast collection of species photos and to share them with anyone who is interested. Feel free to use them (but we do not guarantee that the identification is always correct!).

We are not attempting to follow a taxonomically correct classification here. In groups where we have the expertise we try to keep the classification up to date, in others we keep a simplified classification, as a convenient way of browsing taxa. The same applies to synonyms - in some cases the scientific names used are not the currently valid ones but might be outdated.

The species on the photos have been identified to our best knowlege, either in the lab or - mostly - in the field, but of course error might occur! If unsure about the identity of the species, the photo might only be classified under the genus or family name, or even higher ranks.
